SOUTH BEND - The freefall continues for the New Carlisle Newts (13-14). The Glen Lee Skeeters swept the Newts, 15-4, 10-8, 7-6 at The Marsh on Sunday afternoon.
Coming into the series, New Carlisle had lost eight of their previous nine games, and this one got ugly quickly. After the Newts scored two in the first, the Skeeters plated the game's next 10 runs off starter Matt Soos to put the contest out of reach.
New Carlisle was more competitive in the next two games, but still couldn't scratch out a win. The Newts have now lost nine in a row.
Sean Touhey led the way for the Newts offensively in the series, with five hits and four home runs.
The Newts will conclude the regular season next Saturday, July 13 against the County Line Knights under the lights at Migley Field. First pitch is slated for 8:15pm ET.
